I have been following an artist for the past few months. A great lyricist who goes by the name Jay Electronica is from New Orleans, more specifically Magnolia Projects (same place as Juvenile). He has the lyrics and flow that is reminiscent of the great rapper out of New York City between 94 and 96. The less I listen to the radio, the more I appreciate artist like Electronica, because the industry truly lacks talent. Let me state it now...Jay Electronica will be a force to reckon with in music.

I was given this cd a couple of weeks ago and I shelved it because of the excessive amount of music I already listen to on a constant basis. About a day ago, I pulled it out the archives and listen to the cd in its entirety. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I am not an advocate for new age 80s pop since I was an eighties baby, but Santogold receives major love. Her writing is fantastic and the beats are "hot lava" so I find myself listening to it on repeat. Ironically, I saw her on a Converse commercial for the first time today and I like that song too (which is not featured on the album). I have to say that if you have a chance listen to the album, you might enjoy yourself a lil too much...lol
